VILLAGE GAMES 2026
What is the Village Games?
The Village Games is an annual event run by the Recreation Department and includes all sports in the Village.
Who runs the Pickleball tournaments for the Village Games?
The pickleball tournaments are run for the Village by the Pickleball Club. Nadine LeVier, the Club’s Tournaments Director, has organized and run this event since 2022. The objective is to provide fun and competitive play.
How many players will participate?
Last year we had 244 participants over four days in April.
When are the pickleball events and what are they?
Wednesday April 22 – Men’s & Women’s Doubles 2.5 and 3.0
Thursday April 23 – Men’s and Women’s Doubles 3.5 and 4.0
Friday April 24 – Mixed Doubles 2.5 and 3.0
Saturday April 25 – Mixed Doubles 3.5 and 4.0
Each day’s events start at 8am.
Why is there no 70+ bracket this year?
This grouping is small and we already have four days of games. Players will be bracketed according to their competitive ability.
Where will the events be held?
At the outdoor pickleball courts.
Do I need to be a member of the Pickleball Club to participate?
No, the event is open to all LWV residents.
How do I register?
Registration opens on Monday, February 23. You can either register online through ACTIVENet (which you may already use for other Village sign-ups) or in person at the Fitness Center in the Admin Building on El Toro Road.
What does it cost?
$15 for the first sport and $5 for each additional sport. Check or credit card only. A player can enter multiple events within one sport (e.g. if you register just for pickleball, you pay $15 and can enter both gender doubles and mixed doubles). The cost of entry includes a t-shirt and breakfast at the Closing Ceremony.
Can I register for both my partner(s) and myself?
No. Every player must register and pay individually.
When does registration open and close?
Registration opens on Monday, February 23 and closes on Monday, March 16.
When can we pick up t-shirts?
From Thursday, April 2, from the Fitness Center on El Toro Road.
Do the Village Games have any special rules?
This tournament is run by the Pickleball Club and therefore covered by the Club’s Tournaments Policy.
How do I find a partner? Ask around, talk to the people you play with, go to the courts on pickleball priority days and play with new people, and use the roster to contact others.
What do we do if we don’t know which skill level to enter at?
Sign up with your partner. Nadine will reach out to you if necessary and come and watch you play.
How many games will we play in each event?
The objective is to give players a minimum of four matches, and oftentimes more. The higher skill levels will have a Round Robin followed by Double Elimination.
How are the brackets put together?
Previous tournaments, Village Games, and known skill levels are used as a guide for grouping. Nadine knows most Club members but will reach out to particular teams as necessary to arrange a time for her to watch you play.
I puts the brackets together.
Do my partner and I have to be the same skill level?
No, but they should at least be similar to be able to compete well.
Will we get medals?
Yes, but only for photos, due to the cost of medals this year. There will be some extra available if you want to take one home.
Who will run the brackets? Volunteer Club members will run individual brackets at Nadine’s direction.
I’m not playing. How can I get involved?
Email Nadine at nadinelevier@gmail.com. We need volunteers to run brackets, take photos, referee, hand out balls, shepherd players, give out snacks etc. Please also come out and watch some amazing pickleball games.
When are the Paddle Tennis games?
Monday, April 20 – Men’s and Women’s Doubles
Tuesday, April 21 – Mixed Doubles
Pickleballers will be allowed access to the courts when the day’s paddle tennis games are over.
When is the Closing Ceremony breakfast?
9am on Thursday, April 30, in Clubhouse Five.
